Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th in 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On the 21st of October, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP on the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she first gained notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks on the internet in 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued uploading her music on the internet, including her independent single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out on the 21st of July in 2015. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's references. Later in the season, the music was played around Dreamville. On the 8th of December that she had signed with Dreamville Records. In the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In the month of October she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening performance. In 2018, she went on to be a guest on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released No One as well as Pedigree. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same name. The song, made available with a video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been watched over three million times over the first seven days. As a supporting act She toured together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
